Father Defends MP Daughter Amid Scam Allegations Investigation
Samrit Tangsap, father of MP Suchada Sang Tangsap, said he is not worried about the investigation into allegations that her husband is linked to a scam network, insisting the husband runs a legitimate startup overseas. Suchada has denied any wrongdoing, said she will cooperate with legal processes, and filed a defamation complaint against MP Rangsiman Rome, who raised the suspicions. Samrit urged the legal committee to clarify its authority, arguing outsiders should not be summoned unless they have legal power, while affirming his daughter should clarify the matter publicly.
Samrit Tangsap said he is not concerned about the scrutiny, noting that once his daughter entered politics she must accept being a public figure and submit to inspection, especially after her asset declaration showed nearly 2 billion baht. He said, according to his daughter, her husband operates a business abroad with strict oversight, and while he does not interfere in details, he knows it involves a startup and the husband has assured the family that his wealth was obtained legally and can be verified. Samrit added that filing a complaint against Rangsiman Rome is his daughter's right, and that disclosing assets to the anti-corruption commission is part of the process; he believes relevant agencies will examine the source and details, and if doubts remain they should be clarified with documents and facts. Regarding the legal committee's plan to summon his daughter and son-in-law, Samrit said the committee's jurisdiction should be clear and that outsiders should not be called to explain if they lack legal authority. However, he does not want his daughter to avoid scrutiny, but if the summons comes from a legally authorized body such as the anti-corruption commission or other oversight agency, cooperation should be given. 'When the matter draws public interest, my daughter should clarify to build understanding, and I believe documents from the relevant agencies will help the facts emerge for society,' Samrit said.
