Thai Political Party Mobilizes Overnight Flood Relief in Bangkok
Pheu Thai Party leaders mobilized overnight to deliver food and water to thousands of residents trapped in flooded Bangkok neighborhoods, with over 700 students stranded in university dormitories among the hardest hit.
The Pheu Thai Party mobilized its parliamentary members and senior leadership from September 27 evening through September 28 morning to assist residents in the severely flooded areas of Bang Kapi, Lat Phrao, Ramkhamhaeng, and Bangkokgreeeted, designated as critical red zones in Bangkok. Led by party chair Nattapong Ruangpanya and deputies Weerayut Kanchachuetchat, Parisat Vatchrasindu, and Piyarat Jongtep, the team established a temporary kitchen and distributed food and drinking water to affected residents.
Field surveys revealed critical conditions, with floodwaters reaching from knee to chest level in many areas. Multiple condominiums, hostels, and apartments have been without electricity and water supply for two to three days, convenience stores are emptied, and residents cannot access bathrooms. Vulnerable populations including elderly persons, bedridden patients, sick children, and pets remain trapped inside buildings unable to wade out. Immediate needs identified include food, boxed meals, clean drinking water, waste bags, foot infection medicine, allergy medication, and sandbags.
To maximize relief coverage, the Pheu Thai team divided operations into nine zones: Happy Land and Sena Villa 84 neighborhoods; Sri Burapa, Nawamin, and Serithai areas; Khlong Chan flats; Lat Phrao 101 and 87 zones; odd-numbered Lat Phrao sois (91, 93, 107, 109, 115, 121), with particular focus on Soi 107 where over 700 students are trapped in Rattana Bandit University dormitories; even-numbered Lat Phrao sois (114, 130, 132, 134), where Soi 130 has multiple condominiums and hotels in critical condition with no electricity or food for days; Huamark and Bangkokgreeeted areas; and Ramkhamhaeng zones including Soi 26/2, 62, 64, 65, Suan Son village, and multiple community shelters. Party members continue relief operations around the clock, delivering supplies and moral support to stranded residents until conditions normalize.
