A dam at Ban Huai Suea, near the confluence of Huai Chani in Cha Lat subdistrict, Thong Pha Phum district, Kanchanaburi Province, collapsed on September 28, causing a severe surge of water downstream. A pickup truck attempting to cross was swept off the road and submerged. The vehicle contained four people: two men and two women.
After local residents reported the incident, rescue teams from the Pituk Kan Foundation's Thong Pha Phum division, Thai Volunteer Disaster Relief Unit 34-00 at Bun Vipha Base, Khlong Saeng National Park rescue personnel, local government officials, and a four-wheel-drive team from Tambon Tha Khun responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, officials learned that locals had successfully rescued two men from the water. However, a mother and daughter were swept away by the powerful current. Despite extensive search efforts, the severity of the water flow and darkness forced rescue teams to suspend operations for the night, with plans to resume the search on the morning of September 28. Preliminary reports indicate the four victims were hired agricultural workers in the Cha Lat area.
