Reserve Senator May Face False Accusation Suit Over EC Complaint
A reserve senator may be sued for false accusation after lodging a complaint against two Election Commission members. The Nonthaburi Provincial Court heard the case on October 5, 2026, with the Appeals Court president to decide whether the lawsuit belongs to the Supreme Court or the Corruption Court. The case has been temporarily removed from the docket, with a jurisdictional hearing set for February 15, 2027.
The plaintiff later withdrew claims against two of the eight defendants, Sitchoti Intawiset and Chai Nakornchai, which the court allowed. The remaining defendants, including Election Commission Secretary Saang Boonmee and others, challenged the court’s jurisdiction, arguing the case belongs to the Supreme Court’s criminal division for political office holders or the Central Corruption Court. The Corruption Court forwarded the matter to the Appeals Court president for a jurisdictional ruling under the Corruption Court Establishment Act. The court ordered the case temporarily removed from the docket and scheduled a hearing on the Appeals Court president’s decision for February 15, 2027, while directing that the case be reported to the Region 1 Chief Justice and the Supreme Court President.
