Floods Swamp Huahin Railway Station, 60 Homes Displaced
Heavy rainfall submerged Huahin Railway Station in Nakhon Sawan and displaced over 60 families, forcing a temporary halt to train services while floodwaters still block the main access road.
Heavy rain over two consecutive days has left much of Nakhon Sawan flooded, particularly around Huahin Railway Station in Neun Makawk subdistrict, Phayuhakiri district. Both the station and railway tracks were submerged, forcing authorities to halt train services from around 10 a.m. on September 26 until conditions improved enough to resume normal operations the following morning. Water levels rose 5-15 centimeters above the rails at some points, with flooding extending from Neun Makawk Station through to Hong Po Station in Takli district. Station keykeeper Athit Thubthim reported that flooding began early on September 26 and affected a stretch of multiple stations.
While train services have returned to normal, the main station entrance remains closed because the access road is still submerged under waist-deep water for approximately 500 meters. Authorities have blocked vehicle access to prevent people from attempting to cross dangerous floodwaters. A survey found that more than 60 households across two villages near the station have been affected, with some homes uninhabitable. Residents have temporarily relocated their belongings and are sheltering at a kitchen facility inside Huahin Temple while waiting for water levels to recede.
Residents expect conditions to improve within 4-5 days if rainfall ceases, but warn that additional rain could prolong flooding and force families to remain displaced longer. The situation remains a concern despite rail operations resuming, as the surrounding community and station access road continue to suffer significant water damage.
