Former Kuankalong Subdistrict Mayor Flees Country
Former Kuankalong Subdistrict mayor has fled Thailand after courts approved arrest warrants for allegedly defrauding 16 job applicants by claiming he could rig civil service exams in Satun Province.
An investigation into the former mayor of Kuankalong Subdistrict Administration Organization in Satun Province has revealed he fled abroad after a court approved three arrest warrants. He allegedly collected payments by claiming he could assist job candidates in passing local government civil service exams. More than 10 days have passed since the warrant was issued, but the former mayor remains at large with no sign of surrender or arrest.
Police investigations show 16 victims across multiple police stations: Kuankalong Station has 11 complaints (5 withdrawn, 6 active cases), Mueang Satun Station has 1 active case, and Langu Station has 9 complaints. All cases are in the stage of preparing prosecution documents.
Additionally, some victims attempting to file additional fraud charges against the suspect were denied by certain police stations citing expired statute of limitations. Security sources indicate the former mayor likely escaped to a neighboring country through natural border crossings. Authorities are coordinating with relevant agencies to pursue leads.
