Former Monk-Role Actor Seeks Work After Wandering to Nonthaburi
Former actor Yothin Maphabhan, 73, who once played monk roles in Thai films and TV, is now homeless and wandering from Lad Krabang to Nonthaburi, seeking work in exchange for food. He has no income beyond a 700‑baht monthly senior allowance and cannot contact his relatives, asking police for help finding a job such as a security guard. Police have promised to coordinate with social services to provide him with food, shelter and possible employment.
Yothin said he had walked from Lad Krabang to Wat Suan Kaew, asking if there was a place to stay or work; the temple replied there was none, so he continued until he met Bang Yai police, who advised him to go to the BB Market in Bang Yai and gave him 100 baht for a meal. After eating, he went to the police station because he had nowhere else to go. He currently has no fixed shelter, lives day by day, cannot reach his children, and relies only on a monthly 700‑baht senior citizen allowance. His past income from daily‑wage acting jobs was never saved. He wants the police to help him find any work, even as a guard, so he can earn food and water. He also asked fans who remember his roles in films such as King Naresuan 2, Ruitai Bad, Mor Ya Tha Cholo, Kai Kai, and Saturday the Fifth to know he now suffers from blocked blood vessels and high blood pressure, which affects his speech, but he remains willing to work if given a chance. Police Colonel Siribop Anusiri of Bang Yai station said the station is there to serve the public and will coordinate with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to provide further assistance, including food, a place to sleep, and bathroom facilities, while also looking into possible job opportunities for him.
