13-Year-Old Boy Electrocuted at Temple Fair
A 13-year-old boy died from an electric shock while helping sell chestnuts at the Wat Rai Khing temple fair in Nakhon Pathom. Relatives and a friend who tried to rescue him were also shocked but managed to break free. Police confirmed the death and noted burn injuries across the boy’s body.
At 4:00 p.m. on October 14, 2026, Police Lieutenant Chanthon Yangnok, deputy inspector of investigations and acting superintendent of Sam Phran Police Station in Nakhon Pathom, received a report that a person had suffered an electric shock. The victim was taken to hospital and later died. Upon arrival at the hospital, officers found the body of Boy A (pseudonym), a 13-year-old volunteer with the Khun Rattanawut Foundation in Kanchanaburi. He had burn wounds on his torso, his body was rigid, and a long burn mark ran across his abdomen. Doctors determined death resulted from an electric shock.
The owner of the chestnut stall, Nit, said he had just left his stall when he heard loud shouting and saw an ambulance heading toward his area. He turned back and found Boy A being electrocuted.
Boy Gai, Nit’s 13-year-old son who was also selling chestnuts at the fair, explained that Boy A, a relative, had come to help during the school break. While Boy A was about to cross an iron fence about 40–60 centimeters high, he shouted in pain as electricity struck him. Gai rushed to grab him to help but was also shocked, though he managed to pull himself away and called for assistance.
The scene became chaotic and noisy until someone switched off the circuit breaker to cut the power. Because chestnut storage barrels were in the way, it was difficult to pull Boy A’s body free. Once the current stopped, responders saw Boy A lying motionless, performed CPR, and rushed him to hospital, where he was confirmed dead. Doctors will conduct an autopsy and then release the body to his family for funeral rites.
