Government Deploys Flood Relief Kitchen Units in Bangkok
Sukhomruay Wattanayakul has deployed mobile kitchen units from the Village and Urban Community Fund Office and the Phet Kasem Foundation to provide flood relief in Bangkok’s Khan Na Yao district. The kitchens are preparing 20,000 meal boxes daily with drinking water for an estimated 90,000 people affected by ongoing rains and flooding. Volunteer teams, including the minister’s aide group, have been operating the service for three days and will continue until conditions improve.
Following the assignment by Sukhomruay Wattanayakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Village and Urban Community Fund Office and the Phet Kasem Foundation set up disaster response kitchens at the Khan Na Yao District Office in Bangkok to help residents affected by ongoing rain and flooding. The operation aligns with the policy of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Interior Minister to care for affected citizens. Officials estimate about 90,000 people need assistance, with many flooded spots facing shortages of cooking supplies and unable to prepare meals. The mobile kitchen trucks will remain at the district office, producing 20,000 meal boxes per day along with drinking water. Recently, the minister’s aide team nicknamed ‘Nae Tangjai’ and volunteers have continued to support the kitchen effort for the past three days, emphasizing that each meal is freshly prepared and hot to provide both nourishment and morale to flood victims. They pledged to keep operating until the situation eases and welcomed coordination from other agencies needing food assistance.
