Minister Deploys Six Mobile Kitchens, Boats to Flood-Hit Bangkok

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchat Chomklin and Permanent Secretary Dr. Raveewan Phoorideach visited the Bangkok Coordination Center in the Lat Krabang district on September 28 to inspect conditions and provide encouragement to flood victims at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. The minister ordered an immediate deployment of additional mobile kitchens, boats, and personnel to ensure food, drinking water, and necessities reach communities, particularly those inaccessible by road.

Succhat emphasized that the department would work as one unit to deliver aid where vehicles cannot reach by using boats and prioritizing elderly people, children, and patients. Currently, about 700 flood victims are sheltering in the Lat Krabang area, with an additional 300 expected. To meet demand, the department expanded its mobile kitchens from three to six units, producing at least 12,000 meal boxes daily with round-the-clock operations. The department also supplies 20,000 bottles of drinking water daily, has deployed approximately 100 staff members, and mobilized boats to transport supplies to severely flooded areas, along with three emergency operation vehicles. One dialysis patient has already been transported from the shelter to a hospital, with additional medical support scheduled.

Permanent Secretary Raveewan noted close coordination with Bangkok authorities to prioritize areas by need and reduce duplication, ensuring resources reach the most vulnerable and hardest-to-access locations. The Water Resources Department continues monitoring water levels and weather conditions for ongoing response planning. Minister Suchat reiterated the commitment to continuously mobilize personnel, equipment, boats, and resources from all agencies to provide comprehensive and targeted assistance, pledging that no flood victims will be abandoned.
