On September 3, 2026, Jatuporn Rojnpanik, Director of the Department of Women's Affairs and Family Development, opened a workshop to enhance the capacity of government funeral assistance program staff, with administrators, civil servants, and funeral assistance workers in attendance at the Prince Palace Hotel in Bangkok.
Jatuporn stated that the funeral assistance program is a welfare and mutual aid system aimed at managing funerals and supporting families when members pass away on a non-profit basis. The department currently oversees 80 registered organizations with approximately 3.5 million total members comprising 46 government agencies, 24 state enterprises, and 10 government units. As of December 31, 2025, the program holds accumulated financial assets exceeding 2.43 billion baht.
These figures reflect the substantial responsibility and resources that staff must manage collectively, with the core principles being "integrity, transparency, good governance, and strict legal compliance" to ensure the government funeral assistance program serves as a genuine guarantee and support for members and their families.
Jatuporn outlined three key guidelines for administrators and staff to follow uniformly: 1) Standards, regulations, and governance in management by updating regulations and appointments according to law and established procedures; 2) Accuracy and currency of documents including member records, financial statements, and evidence filing within required timeframes; and 3) Strengthening cooperation, networks, and member-centered services through experience sharing, identifying obstacles, identifying best practices, and supporting consultation and collaborative mechanisms.
Jatuporn added that the workshop aims to build knowledge and understanding of legal requirements and financial accounting procedures while establishing standardized work practices. This enables staff to apply their learning to strengthen the government funeral assistance program with sound governance and sustainable welfare that brings reassurance to members and families.
