Government Steps Up Flood Monitoring and Management Nationwide

On September 26, Deputy Government Spokesperson Ploychaleesunlaksmee revealed that amid ongoing heavy rain and widespread flooding, riverbank overflow, and flash floods affecting residents' lives and travel, the government has mobilized all agencies to monitor the situation closely around the clock. Prime Minister Anutthin Charnvirakul has instructed the Interior Ministry to coordinate full assistance to the public.
The Interior Ministry has ordered all provincial governors to implement three urgent measures to prevent broad impacts on lives and property while ensuring swift and efficient crisis management:
1. Escalate flood monitoring and proactive management by closely tracking rainfall, water volume, water levels, and high-risk areas—particularly lowlands, riverbanks, hillsides, and previously flooded zones. The ministry will forecast trends and prepare personnel, machinery, equipment, evacuation points, and reception centers for rapid assistance, prioritizing public safety.
2. Designate provincial disaster prevention offices as the primary responsible unit, coordinating with district officers and all sectors including government agencies, local organizations, foundations, volunteers, rescue units, and relevant departments. They will continuously monitor conditions, maintain updated data on risk and affected areas, prepare emergency response plans, warning systems, evacuation procedures, and public assistance. If conditions appear severe, they will immediately escalate to the provincial governor and mobilize resources.
3. Designate provincial public relations offices as the main communication hub, integrating information with provincial disaster prevention offices and related agencies to ensure the public receives accurate updates, can act safely, and is prepared. The public is urged to follow official government information and local authorities' guidance.
Deputy Spokesperson Ploychaleesunlaksmee stated: "The government is fully engaged in supporting residents through coordinated efforts supplying equipment, machinery, pumps, and personnel. The Interior Ministry network is the primary agency working with all sectors—state agencies, foundations, volunteers, rescue units, and relevant organizations—to relieve public suffering. Citizens can contact the emergency hotline 1784 for information and assistance 24 hours daily."
