A single-story wooden house collapsed at approximately 4:30 a.m. on September 18, 2569, in Thong Khun On subdistrict, trapping a 70-year-old man named Toy inside. Subdistrict headman Chuchat Chiamthong received the emergency report from residents of the Wat Pa Kaet school community and coordinated with the subdistrict administration and local authorities to respond. The house, located in Petchhuang Lane 14, had been home to Toy for over 50 years and was approximately 50 years old with visible structural problems.
Rescuers found Toy pinned under debris near his sleeping area. It took approximately 25 minutes to free him. Officials examined him and discovered back injuries, after which he was immediately transported to Bang Chak Hospital. The house measured approximately 15 square meters, had no electricity or water connections, and was already visibly tilted before the collapse. The subdistrict administration and local authorities had surveyed the property just 2-3 days earlier with plans to rebuild it.
Suriya, 47, was one of the first to help after being alerted by his nephew. Upon arrival, he heard Toy calling for help and began removing roof tiles and debris. He worked without fear of further collapse, focused only on saving the man's life. Seventeen-year-old volunteer Verathorn also responded quickly, hearing the loud crash and discovering the neighboring house had vanished. He called for additional support and helped coordinate rescue efforts despite difficult access due to nails and debris. Toy sustained only minor injuries and remained able to walk normally after being extracted.
