Interior Ministry Establishes Southern Border Peace Unit
Thailand’s Interior Ministry is preparing to launch a new Interior Front Office to tackle security and development issues in the southern border provinces. The initiative, discussed with the Prime Minister’s advisor, aims to achieve tangible results by 2027 through integrated strategies for peace, quality of life, and multicultural harmony. Pilot projects will begin in 14 districts across the three southern provinces to ensure unified management and lasting safety.
Interior Ministry Permanent Secretary Arsit Sampantharat said the ministry is making comprehensive preparations for the Interior Front Office in accordance with the policy of Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. Efforts include arranging the fiscal year 2027 budget, defining personnel structures, and training staff and forces. The initiative will be pursued through three main strategies: maintaining peace and order, improving quality of life, and strengthening a multicultural society. Pilot activities will be launched at district‑level operations centers in 14 districts across the three southern border provinces to achieve unified management, with the overarching aim of societal peace and comprehensive public safety.
