Jealous Man Shoots Three Dead, Surrenders to Police
A 44-year-old man surrendered to police in Suphan Buri after shooting three people, including his estranged wife and their 6-year-old child, in a jealous rage over debt and a new relationship on September 27.
Region 7 police arrested Chatchai, 44, known as Neung, after he surrendered at U Thong Police Station in Suphan Buri. He admitted to shooting Athipong (nicknamed Lek) first, then pursuing and shooting Thirinyadaa (nicknamed Chuay) as she fled to the bathroom. He claimed the gun discharged when he fired at their 6-year-old child.
The shooting occurred on September 27 at a rental house in Moo 3, Nong Phaknag Subdistrict, Samchuk District, Suphan Buri at 7:30 p.m. Police found chat messages showing Chatchai had demanded Thirinyadaa repay approximately 600,000 baht in joint debt or stop contact with her new partner. On the day of the incident, Chatchai saw his estranged wife with her new boyfriend, drew the gun he was carrying, and fired. He then dumped the weapon at Thai Ruea Hospital, buried the gun, and fled on a motorcycle.
Investigators recovered the clothing Chatchai wore on the day of the incident, which he had discarded near a relative's house in Thai Ruea District, and retrieved the buried firearm. He is being held for further questioning at Samchuk Police Station.
