Lifeguards Rescue Stranded Dolphin at Patong Beach
Lifeguards at Patong Beach rescued a stranded dolphin on July 31, providing emergency care while specialists from the Andaman Sea Research Center transported it for examination and potential release.
Lifeguards at Patong Beach rescued a stranded dolphin and coordinated with the Andaman Sea Resources Research and Development Center in Phuket on July 31, 2025. The lifeguards quickly assessed the animal and provided initial emergency care, spraying water to keep it moist and covering it with wet cloths to reduce heat stress while closely monitoring its condition and waiting for specialists to arrive.
Initially, the lifeguards maintained a suitable environment to minimize the dolphin's stress and cordoned off the area to prevent public contact or disturbance. The research center staff are now collecting the dolphin to transport it to a care facility, where they will conduct a full health examination and assess its condition. If the animal is physically healthy and ready to return to nature, it will be released back to the sea.
Authorities are calling on the public to report any sightings of stranded or injured rare marine animals such as dolphins, whales, dugongs, or sea turtles to relevant officials immediately. They emphasized avoiding any attempt to move the animals or feed them yourself, as proper professional care significantly improves the animal's chances of recovery and safe return to its natural habitat.
