Local Government Exam Disqualifies 5,925, Reveals Politicians' Allies
Thailand's local government exam body disqualified 5,925 candidates found to have irregularities, many with ties to politicians and senior officials, after announcing replacement registrations on August 8.
On August 8, the Central Local Administration Personnel Examination Committee (CALPEC) announced the partial cancellation of candidate registrations for the 2568 local government personnel recruitment exam, excluding southern region zones 1 and 2, and released a replacement list of qualified candidates. The committee separately issued announcements regarding the cancellation and replacement of candidates specifically for the southern region zones 1 and 2. Reports indicate that the new candidate list comprises replacement names for those found to have anomalous scores and will result in the disqualification of 5,925 individuals, many of whom were associates of politicians and high-ranking government officials.
