Major Fire Guts Popular Pork Rice Restaurant in Rayong
A popular pork rice restaurant in Rayong was destroyed by a major fire on September 9, with firefighters battling the blaze for two hours after the owner's refrigerator allegedly overheated and sparked the rapid spread.
A well-known pork rice restaurant in Rayong city caught fire with thick black smoke billowing and intense flames burning fiercely. Firefighters mobilized multiple water trucks to battle the blaze, with the restaurant owner suspecting the fire started from a refrigerator.
At 7:00 a.m. on September 9, 2569, Rayong Provincial Radio Centre 191 received a fire report from Narisa, a relative of the pork rice restaurant owner, which is located on Tha Baruttok Road in Noen Phra Subdistrict, Mueang District, Rayong Province. Officers checked the scene along with firefighting units from Rayong City Municipality and Noen Phra Subdistrict Municipality, who brought water trucks and personnel to urgently contain the incident.
The commercial building was engulfed in intense flames with large plumes of black smoke pouring from the structure. The presence of fuel and kitchen equipment in the area caused the fire to spread rapidly. Firefighters cordoned off the area and deployed multiple water jets to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings. It took approximately two hours to bring the blaze under control.
According to preliminary questioning, the owner stated that before the incident, staff were preparing to open the restaurant and serve customers as usual. The fire is suspected to have originated from an overheating refrigerator inside the shop that generated sparks, igniting behind the unit before rapidly spreading to surrounding items and the building structure.
The building interior and the restaurant's property sustained extensive damage. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths were reported. Police and forensic officers will conduct a detailed inspection to assess the damage and investigate the true cause of the fire.
