The Mall Group Launches Vegetarian Food Zones Across Thailand
The Mall Group has launched "Vegetarian Festival Zones" in its malls, featuring authentic vegetarian food from four renowned Thai districts—Yaowarat, Talat Noi, Talat Phlu, and Phuket—to boost traffic and spending in the fourth quarter. The initiative, part of its 27th‑year THE MALL LIFESTORE TASTE OF J campaign, aims to draw over 92% of consumers who still prefer buying vegetarian food themselves and taps into a market worth over 45.9 billion baht. The event runs from October 9 to 18, 2026 at The Mall Lifestore locations.
The Mall Group is tapping into the vegetarian festival market by launching "Vegetarian Festival Zones" that gather authentic vegetarian restaurants, traditional recipes, and quality ingredients from four renowned areas across the country, extending its Food Destination strategy to drive traffic and spending in Q4. On October 5, 2026, Woralak Tulaphorn, Chief Marketing Officer of The Mall Group Co., Ltd., said the vegetarian festival remains a key period for Thailand's food and retail business, citing data from the Thai Chamber of Commerce University's Center for Economic and Business Forecasting showing last year's festival generated over 45.9 billion baht in circulation and has grown steadily over the past five years, with over 92.9% of consumers still choosing to buy vegetarian food themselves. The Mall Group continues to develop THE MALL LIFESTORE TASTE OF J for its 27th year, aiming to create a comprehensive vegetarian food platform featuring original restaurants, contemporary menus, and quality ingredients nationwide. It also emphasizes the roles of The Mall Lifestore Gourmet Market and Gourmet Eats as food destinations capable of creating experiences and drawing visitors to the shopping center. For 2026, The Mall Group presents the concept "Vegetarian Festival Zones" by gathering authentic vegetarian restaurants, traditional recipes, and quality ingredients from four famous areas: Yaowarat, Talat Noi, Talat Phlu, and Phuket, all in one place. This aims to reduce travel constraints for consumers and provide local restaurants access to high-spending customers in malls, while creating experiences linking the restaurant zone, supermarket, and activity areas within the center. "This is a key strategy to increase traffic, length of stay, and spending within the shopping center during the final quarter of the year. We expect the vegetarian festival to remain one of the seasonal food events that drive foot traffic to malls and generate continuous revenue in retail, aligning with the group's food ecosystem development strategy covering restaurants, quality ingredients, services, and in‑mall experiences," Woralak said. Highlights of the event include gathering vegetarian restaurants from the four original districts: J Heritage – Yaowarat, reflecting traditional Chinese culinary heritage; J Roots – Talat Noi, known for family recipes and hard‑to‑find dishes; J Street Taste – Talat Phlu, offering popular street‑food style vegetarian fare; and J Culture – Phuket, showcasing the southern vegetarian tradition. The event also features exclusive festival menus and special dishes developed for the occasion, responding to consumer demand for novel experiences alongside authenticity, plus activities with chefs and food experts to raise awareness and extend the value of quality ingredients to modern consumers. Gourmet Eats has compiled legendary and famous vegetarian restaurants from across the country to strengthen its Food Destination position, while Gourmet Market continues to affirm its leadership in premium food retail by selecting quality vegetarian ingredients, local produce, plant‑based products, and ready‑to‑eat meals to serve both home cooks and those seeking convenience. The "Vegetarian Festival Zones" at THE MALL LIFESTORE TASTE OF J 2026 will run from October 9 to 18, 2026 at The Mall Lifestore locations.
