Man Found Throat-Slashed Dead After Reconciliation Attempt With Old Rival
A 54-year-old man was found dead with his throat slashed at a rental room in Rayong province after an old rival arrived during a drinking gathering; police are investigating two suspects who fled the scene.
On September 24, Deputy Sergeant Major Kusuma Thaneto, investigation officer at Ban Khao Police Station in Rayong province, responded to a report of a man fatally stabbed with a knife at a rental room in Moo 1, Chak Bok subdistrict, Ban Khao district, Rayong province. Officers arrived with forensic staff, medical examiners, and rescue workers to find the body of Bunyamee, 54, lying dead with a laceration to the throat from a sharp object. Near the body were a bed, bottles of liquor, a barbecue grill with pork, and plates of food.
According to witness statements, Siri Mongkol, who was present at the scene, told police that before the incident he had been drinking and eating grilled pork with the deceased and another man named Sutheep. When Sutheep stepped out on an errand, Anant—an old rival from ten years prior—arrived on a motorcycle with a friend. Anant allegedly drew a large machete he had prepared. Siri Mongkol intervened and took both men outside to talk and resolve their differences. When he returned from his own errand, he found Bunyamee dead.
Police initially focused their investigation on Anant and his associate due to their history as rivals. Officers visited the suspects' rental home about 1 kilometer from the scene but found neither man present. However, they discovered a large machete with a wooden handle approximately 1 meter long that had been cleaned and left at the front door. Investigators collected fingerprints and DNA evidence for further investigation and prosecution.
