Thai Weightlifter Fang Wins Bronze at Asian Games 2026
Thai weightlifter Theerapong Silachai won bronze in the men's 60kg category at the 2026 Asian Games, lifting a total of 299 kilograms despite competing with knee injuries.
Theerapong Silachai, a 22-year-old weightlifter for Thailand's national team, posted a message after winning bronze in the men's 60-kilogram category at the 2026 Asian Games, stating "I did it."
Silachai secured the bronze medal after failing his first two snatch attempts before successfully lifting 126 kilograms on his third try. He then completed the clean and jerk at 173 kilograms, bringing his total to 299 kilograms.
After the competition, Silachai said he was satisfied with the bronze medal, given that he had competed despite pre-competition knee injuries on both sides. He explained that he applied too much pressure during the first two snatch attempts at 126 kilograms, which left him frustrated since the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, where he failed to complete the snatch entirely. This time, however, he refocused on his third attempt and succeeded. He noted that his personal best for the snatch is 133 kilograms.
Silachai recently posted on Instagram account "th_fang60" with a photo showing his medal and his hand, captioning it "My final dream—I did it."
