The Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning has partnered with Seacon Square to expand food waste reduction efforts toward greenhouse gas emission reductions under the Seacon Zero Waste initiative. On September 24, 2025, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Office presented a Stop Food Waste SDG 12.3 banner to the shopping center management to demonstrate commitment to reducing food waste. The initiative aligns with Thailand's Sustainable Development Goal 12, which focuses on sustainable production and consumption patterns. The program emphasizes preventing food waste at source while promoting proper waste sorting and recycling, with results used to measure greenhouse gas reductions. A total of 130 model retailers received certificates recognizing their participation in the Low Emission Support Scheme and efficient resource management. This collaboration represents a significant step in advancing SDG 12.3 by fostering behavior change across government, private sector, businesses, and the public to achieve concrete food waste reduction, ultimately supporting Thailand's transition to a low-carbon and sustainable society.
