Man Narrowly Escapes as Flooded Canal Bridge Collapses

At 5:00 a.m. on September 29, 2025, a harrowing accident took place at the Prasae Canal crossing bridge on Rural Highway 3004 (Prasae Bon to Khao Chong Lom route) in Kaeng District, Rayong Province. A man named Tom was driving his pickup truck away from a roadside shop when he headed toward a rubber plantation affected by flooding, with another vehicle following behind.
When Tom reached the canal bridge, the bridge support suddenly collapsed and crumbled due to water erosion. His pickup truck crashed violently against the bridge structure and plunged nose-first into the canal, which measured approximately 3 meters deep, 2 meters wide, and 6 meters long. Fortunately, the vehicle became stuck and did not sink completely.
The driver of the following vehicle immediately stopped to help and called rescue personnel, who arrived to provide initial first aid. Tom sustained injuries from the impact but is now in stable condition. His mother, 60-year-old Khim, described her initial panic upon receiving the rescue call, fearing her son and vehicle would be swept away by the floodwaters.
