Man Shoots Dead Former Postal Worker Over Land Dispute
A man shot dead a former postal worker in a rice field in Phetchaburi province over a land dispute; the shooter turned himself in the same day.
On September 16, the body of Wanchat, 50, a former postal worker, was found shot dead in a rice field in Ban Han Taphao, Nong Chok subdistrict, Tha Yang district, Phetchaburi Province. Later that afternoon, Bamphen, 39, a relative of the deceased, turned himself in to Phetchaburi Provincial Police and guided officers to the location where he discarded the firearm. Bamphen claimed that three to four days earlier, he and the victim had argued. On the day of the incident, while he was working in the rice field, the victim rode up to confront him, resulting in another heated argument that prompted him to use the gun he was carrying. Police say they will conduct a thorough investigation to establish the facts before proceeding with legal proceedings.
