Monk Rescues Two Abandoned Labrador Puppies in Chiang Mai
Two five‑month‑old female Labrador puppies were abandoned in Chiang Mai after their foreign owner had to leave the country. Monk Phra Aod of Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan rescued them, providing care and planning to move the puppies to an elephant‑care facility for a better life. The story highlights how a safe home can give abandoned pets a second chance.
Chiang Mai – Animal lovers were heartbroken when two five‑month‑old female Labrador puppies were abandoned after their foreign owner had to return home. On October 2, 2026, a reporter said that Phra Aod of Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan in Chiang Mai posted the story of the two puppies, who were still young and in need of care but faced separation after their owner left the country and could no longer look after them.
Initially the owner considered releasing the puppies, but after learning there was a place willing to show mercy and provide care, they coordinated with Phra Aod, who agreed to take responsibility for the puppies’ lives. Phra Aod said both puppies have excellent temperaments, although one suffers from a skin condition that requires close medical attention and monitoring.
He noted that he previously raised another Labrador named “Dodo”, which has grown into a healthy, cheerful temple dog that thrives in a natural setting. For these two Labradors, Phra Aod plans to move them to an elephant‑care facility that offers ample space and close contact with nature, giving them room to run and live appropriately after being separated from their owner at such a young age.
From nearly being abandoned to receiving a second chance, the puppies’ story shows that while pets cannot choose their birth or guardians, when humans can no longer care for them, finding a safe and suitable home can reduce loss and give the animals a fresh start.
