Chiang Mai Market Gives Away Free Puppies and Kittens
At Chiang Mai’s Tung Fah Bot Saturday market, vendors gave away free puppies and kittens, attracting many animal lovers. The puppies came from stray dogs that had taken refuge at a local school and a resident’s home, while the kittens were also offered for adoption. All of the animals found new homes thanks to the community’s generosity.
At the Tung Fah Bot market, vendors sell everything from farm animals and poultry to second‑hand motorcycles, farm produce, garments, tree seedlings, household items and fresh vegetables. Even with the economic downturn, the market stays crowded all day. The highlight is the free distribution of puppies and kittens. A school janitor from San Pa Tong Witthayakhom School explained that the seven two‑month‑old puppies came from a stray dog that had taken shelter at the school; they were given away to interested adopters. Likewise, a resident of Hang Dong district brought two‑month‑old puppies whose mother was a stray that had left three pups behind her house; after raising them to good health, she gave them away together with some kittens. All of the animals were adopted, and the organizer thanked everyone who showed kindness.
