Stray Dog Thai Tea Rides Motorbikes Around Khon Kaen Market

In Chum Phae, Khon Kaen, a stray dog nicknamed 'Thai Tea' has won locals' affection by regularly hopping onto passing motorbikes to ride to the market and back. The dog avoids a certain route where a rival dog chases it, prompting riders to make way. Mrs. Pikul, who feeds and cares for the animal, says the dog enjoys the rides and is well‑looked after, receiving vaccinations and regular meals.

The dog spends its days roaming and riding motorbikes, avoiding a stretch where a hostile dog chases it. It has been vaccinated against rabies, treated for ticks and fleas, and fed regularly by Mrs. Pikul’s shop. Although it will hop onto any motorbike, food cart, or motorcycle, it refuses to ride on the owner’s own bike or that of her daughter. The dog was once taken away for three to four days but returned after being found near Chai So. It dislikes being confined, resting during the day and roaming in the afternoon, evening, and night, and while it does not bite people, it simply wants a ride, often chasing after bikes that try to flee.
