Mother and 3-Year-Old Daughter Fall From Fourth-Floor Apartment

A mother holding her 3-year-old daughter fell from a fourth-floor apartment room. Authorities rushed to their aid as both sustained serious injuries. The tragic cause has been revealed.

On September 19, Deputy Superintendent Chuthapon Mueang Song from Phaya Thai Police Station in Bangkok received a report of two people with serious injuries from a fall at an apartment building in the Petburi 37 area, Makkasan subdistrict, Ratchathewi district, Bangkok. Officers rushed to investigate along with rescue personnel from Ramathibodi Hospital and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation.

The incident occurred at a 5-story residential apartment building. Behind the structure at ground level, two people were found lying close together with shallow breathing. The woman, identified as Ms. Pin (pseudonym), 48 years old, was lying on her back wearing a black short-sleeved shirt and white shorts with black pattern. Her 3-year-old daughter was lying face down wearing a yellow short-sleeved shirt and short pants.

Nearby, a pink towel was also found. Both fell from the balcony of room 417 on the fourth floor. Rescue workers transported both victims to Ramathibodi Hospital. Police officers then checked the fourth-floor room and found the door locked from the inside. After forcing it open, they found the room in normal condition with no signs of disturbance or struggle.

Cause revealed as heartbreaking.

Investigation revealed that Ms. Pin had separated from her husband and had been renting the room with her two daughters for many years. Ms. Pin suffered from depression and was unable to work. Her younger brother and relatives paid the monthly rent of approximately 3,000 baht and covered her daily living expenses.

Previously, Ms. Pin exhibited signs of hallucinations and had told other residents in the same apartment that someone would come to harm her.

Deputy Superintendent Chuthapon stated that the victims have not yet been interviewed as they are still receiving treatment. Both are now safe. Interviews with neighbors revealed that Ms. Pin had mental health issues. Initial assessment suggests she may have been under severe stress, believed someone was coming to hurt her, and jumped down while holding her daughter. Fortunately, neither lost their life.
