Mother Reveals 11-Month Confinement in Kanchanaburi Elderly Care Center
A mother from Kanchanaburi province has come forward, showing her face to confirm she was confined for 11 months in an iron cage at an elderly care home, where she was forced to use a detergent bucket for bodily functions. She alleges her son seized her business and had her admitted to the facility, where she suffered abuse, unlawful detention and forced medication. Authorities have inspected the center, found it operating without a proper hospital license, and are investigating the claims.
Mother reveals her face, confirming she spent 11 months confined in a metal cage at the facility, using a detergent bucket for urination and defecation. She was locked in an iron cage dubbed a 'dog cage' around the clock. According to complaints aired on the talk show 'Hone Krasae', her son allegedly seized her business and had her admitted to an elderly care center in Tha Muang district, Kanchanaburi province, where she suffered physical abuse, unlawful detention, and was forced to take sleeping pills. Following the allegations, the Central Investigation Bureau inspected the center and found metal cages on beds. The center’s owner claimed the cages prevented patients from falling or hurting themselves, arguing that long‑term rope restraints could cause swelling and wounds, and insisted no physical abuse occurred, that care met standards, and that the center held a proper license. Recently, the director-general of the Health Service Support Department and police from Tha Muang Police Station visited the facility and preliminarily found it lacked a hospital license and was operating beyond the scope permitted for a care home. In a follow‑up segment on October 6, 2026, the talk show revisited the case with complainant ‘Ms. Phatthra’, a mother willing to show her face to prove her victimization. Ms. Phatthra described conditions in Building 2, where about 12 iron‑cage‑style beds are kept. During the day detainees are tied to the beds and the beds are lifted for feeding; after 4 p.m. an iron frame is placed over them, left all night if staff are few, though this morning the frame had been removed. She said she remained in the iron ‘dog cage’ 24 hours a day for 11 months, only allowed out for bathing, and had to use a detergent bucket for feces and urine inside the cage. Today she affirmed she is ready to meet her son, whom she calls ‘my Benz’, saying that speaking his name brought her to tears, but she held back, reiterating her willingness to talk and having requested to reveal her face knowing she would see him.
