Industry Ministry Seeks Car Firm Discounts for Flood-Damaged Vehicles
Thailand’s Industry Ministry plans to meet with car manufacturers to negotiate special discounts and promotions for repairing flood-damaged vehicles, aiming to ease citizens’ financial burden. Minister Warawut Silpa-archa said the talks will also assess the flood’s impact on factories and prioritize urgent aid for heavily affected businesses. The initiative is part of broader post-flood recovery efforts nationwide.
The Ministry of Industry is preparing to meet with various car manufacturers to discuss special promotions and discounts for repairing flood-damaged vehicles, aiming to alleviate public hardship while also expediting assistance for businesses. Industry Minister Warawut Silpa-archa said the ministry will talk with all car companies to find ways to help citizens affected by floods, especially those whose vehicles have been damaged and face repair costs. It will seek cooperation from automakers to consider special measures such as promotional discounts on repair services to ease the financial burden on the public during post-flood recovery. Warawut added that they will also assess the flood’s impact on the nation’s industrial sector, gathering clear data on the number of affected parties, nature and extent of damage, those already aided, and the funds and measures provided, to understand the actual relief effort rather than just the number of aid applications. Furthermore, the ministry will coordinate with the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand and related agencies to swiftly identify ways to aid damaged factories, prioritizing entrepreneurs with severe losses needing urgent help, ensuring resources and assistance reach those affected promptly and precisely.
