A 33-year-old man died after his motorcycle collided with the rear of an 18-wheel truck. The truck driver said a tyre had burst, forcing him to drive slowly with hazard lights on the left lane before being hit again.
On 9 October 2026 at 23:10, Police Lieutenant Natthabodin Thong-in, deputy investigator of Nong Prue Police Station in Chon Buri, received notification of a motorcycle rear-ending an 18-wheel truck with a fatality on the Pattaya-Rayong bypass road in Pong subdistrict, Bang Lamung district. He then coordinated with the Pattaya Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan rescue team to inspect the scene.
Officers found a black Honda Wave 100 motorcycle overturned on the road, its front heavily damaged. Nearby lay the body of Chaiyarong, 33, lying on the road with serious head injuries. Rescue workers attempted CPR to save him, but he died shortly after.
Further away, the 18-wheel truck showed rear impact damage. Driver Prasop, 56, stood by to provide information to police.
Prasop said that before the accident he was transporting goods to the Rayong Industrial Estate when, upon reaching the Krasang Lai junction, a tyre burst. He therefore had to drive slowly, keeping his left-turn signal on continuously. As he approached the crash site, he heard another loud bang like an explosion from the rear, believing another tyre had burst. He decided to stop and inspect, but instead found a motorcycle had slammed into the rear of his truck. The rider sustained severe injuries, prompting him to call for emergency assistance.
