Nara United Denied Thai League 2 License, Drops to Semi-Pro
Nara United's promotion to Thai League 2 has been revoked after failing to meet licensing requirements, forcing the club to drop to semi-professional play. Mueang Loei United will now take its promotion spot in the second tier.
Nara United, which had earned promotion from Thai League 3 to Thai League 2, encountered licensing issues and failed to pass club licensing requirements set by the Football Association of Thailand's licensing review committee. The club was initially denied but had the right to appeal.
The appeals committee has now upheld the original licensing committee's decision, confirming that Nara United failed to submit its club license documentation by the deadline required for participation in Thai League 2 and Thai League 3 for the 2026/27 season, making it ineligible.
As a result, Nara United must now restart at the semi-professional league level. This decision allows Mueang Loei United—which finished fourth in Thai League 3 last season—to be promoted to Thai League 2 in its place, along with Udon Thani FC and Phatthalung FC. The Thai League 2 fixture list for the 2026/27 season is expected to be officially released today (July 21, 2026).
