Residents and students in Narathiwat staged a march opposing violence, calling for an end to unrest and expressing their desire to live without fear. On July 28 at Bukehsami Bridge in Tangyongmas subdistrict, Rangae district, Narathiwat province, the community held a rally carrying banners and signs with messages including 'Stop and end the unrest,' 'We want only peace in Rangae,' and 'Choose peace, not violence.' A local resident expressed shock and heartbreak that such violence had resurged after a long quiet period, resulting in officer fatalities and property damage. She noted that officers at checkpoints are always friendly and that damaged homes belonged to families the community knew well. During past floods, these same officers had helped residents. The march was meant to send a clear signal that residents reject further violence and hope it will end, expressing compassion for those living in fear.
