Pharmaceutical Organization Maintains Full Production During Flooding Crisis
Thailand's Pharmaceutical Organization maintains full production across all three drug plants despite flooding, distributing 52,000 emergency medicine kits to 11 affected provinces with plans to reach 100,000 more kits within the week.
The Pharmaceutical Organization confirmed that all three of its drug manufacturing plants—located in Bangkok's Rama VI area, Rangsit in Pathum Thani province, and Thab Kwang in Saraburi province—continue operating normally and producing medicines and medical supplies without interruption. Although some flooding has affected areas inside and around the facilities, the organization's director personally inspected the situation starting September 26 and confirmed operational readiness.
Director Dr. Mingkwan Supanpong stated that despite the government declaring a public holiday for Bangkok and Pathum Thani, the Pharmaceutical Organization is maintaining full operations across production, medicine reserves, and distribution to all areas to ensure maximum pharmaceutical distribution efficiency and prevent medicine shortages during the crisis.
As an emergency response, the organization has accelerated distribution of emergency medicine kits and royal formula medicine sets to public health units in affected areas. To date, 52,000 kits have been distributed across 11 provinces including Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Nakhon Sawan, Chachoengsao, Suphan Buri, Samut Sakhon, and Sing Buri. An additional 100,000-plus kits are planned for distribution within the week, expanding coverage to 14 provinces.
"The Pharmaceutical Organization reaffirms its commitment to stand alongside the people and support public health agencies in caring for the health and alleviating the suffering of flood victims across all areas to the fullest of our capacity," Dr. Mingkwan said.
