Police Bust Drug Network Using Disguised Garbage Truck in Bangkok
Police in Bangkok used a disguised garbage truck to bust a drug network in the Prawet area, arresting six suspects including the alleged leader 'Bang Dum'. The operation yielded six arrests, identified nine users, and seized large quantities of methamphetamine, ice, ketamine, vehicles and phones. Mr. Somphop, known as 'Bang Dum', was charged with multiple drug offenses and has a lengthy criminal record.
The key suspect arrested was network leader Mr. Somphop, alias 'Bang Dum', a 38‑year‑old Bangkok resident wanted under Criminal Court Phra Khanong warrant No. 1001/2569 dated October 2, 2026. He faces charges of joint possession and distribution of Category 1 drugs (methamphetamine and ice) for sale, illegal possession of ketamine, and conspiracy to commit serious drug offenses. Police said Mr. Somphop has a history of seven prior cases, including drug possession, attempted murder, rape, illegal weapons possession, and gambling. During the raid authorities seized 1,644 methamphetamine tablets, 63 grams of ice, 2.5 grams of ketamine, five mobile phones, one Toyota car and five motorcycles. The investigation, which linked multiple cases to the alias 'Bang Dum', finally confirmed his identity after the undercover operation using the disguised garbage truck.
