On July 27, 2569, at Mueang Udon Thani Police Station, Provincial Police Commander Thawatchai Thungpao, Deputy Commander Phan Phet Khae Kamnoed Phet, Police Station Commander Phatthana Wongse Jhan Phon, and Mueang Udon Thani District Officer Chawish Pongkhan announced the arrest of 21 people aged 18-48, consisting of 14 men and 7 women. Police seized 10 MDMA pills, 3 grams of ketamine, 1 bottle of GHB, and 5 methamphetamine tablets from an unnumbered rental house on Don Udom Lane, Udon Thani Municipality. The arrests were made at 11:30 a.m. on July 26, 2569.

Investigation revealed that Wichyphon rented the house and possessed 1.5 MDMA pills and 1 methamphetamine tablet. Pimukkhaphan had 9 MDMA pills, 2 ketamine packets, 1 GHB bottle, and 3 methamphetamine tablets. Chaiphrueksa possessed MDMA pills, and Techini had 1 methamphetamine tablet. Police charged these four with possession of Type 1 stimulants (GHB), Type 2 stimulants (ketamine and methamphetamine), and Type 1 narcotics (MDMA). The remaining 17 suspects tested positive for drug use in urine samples and were charged with illegal consumption of Type 1 narcotics and Type 2 stimulants.

District Officer Chawish revealed that the office had received complaints about regular vehicle traffic at the rental house, suspecting illegal drug activities. Police conducted the raid as part of the government's "90-Day Drug Elimination Operation." After learning the house hosted regular drug parties, they planned and executed the arrest, finding 21 people using drugs inside.

Police Commander Phatthana reported that three days of surveillance showed night-life revelers inviting each other to the drug party after bars closed, spreading word of mouth without social media promotion. Most participants were regular drug users. On the morning of July 26, police used a search warrant to raid the house and found all 21 people enjoying the drug party inside.

The Ministry of Transport is advancing the Thailand-China high-speed railway project, expediting construction of phase 1 while preparing to open bidding for phase 2 to connect Thailand, Laos, and China and support regional trade, investment, and economic development.

Phase 1, spanning Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima (250.77 kilometers with 6 stations) and budgeted at 179,412.21 million baht, comprises 14 civil contracts. Currently, 2 contracts are completed, 10 are under construction, and 2 are in procurement, bringing overall construction progress to 55.27 percent. Near-completion work includes the Muak Lek and Lam Takong tunnel section and the Lam Takong-Si Khiew and Kud Chik-Khok Khoat sections. Contracts for the Bang Sue-Don Mueang and Ban Pho-Phra Kaew sections are being expedited to enable signing and construction launch soon.

An aging society is everyone's future concern, since all people will eventually grow old. Welfare investment is therefore not a budget burden but an investment in quality of life, reducing inequality, and strengthening social stability long-term. The Land Bridge project remains highly disputed—some view it as wasteful, others as economically unviable. This massive transport infrastructure would connect the Gulf Coast in Chumphon with Ranong's Andaman shore, involving an estimated one-trillion-baht investment in major ports, expressways, railways, and large-scale logistics systems, plus special economic zones and supporting industries. However, Deputy PM and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithamprasert, chairing the Land Bridge review, previously concluded the plan should be shelved due to poor returns, low feasibility, high budgetary risk, and serious threats to marine ecosystems, coastal livelihoods, food security, and forests. The committee ultimately determined the project has low commercial viability, carries significant environmental risk, and lacks social consensus. Although Anuthon says the plan remains open, no timeline or endpoint is clear.
