Police Quick Thinking Saves Man in Severe Allergic Reaction
5 Aug Khaosod

A food allergy is no trivial matter. A man experiencing an allergic reaction stopped at a police station thinking medical help was available, and alert officers quickly called emergency responders, saving him from anaphylaxis.

On August 5, 2025, a Facebook user named Pratak Tiemsai posted an account describing how allergies can be unpredictable and serious. While on duty, an out-of-province driver suddenly arrived complaining of full-body rashes, red skin, and cold hands, unfamiliar with the area. Seeing the police station sign, he stopped thinking a doctor was available.

The officer informed him there was no doctor on site and recommended nearby private and government hospitals, but the man had no health insurance and his medical rights were registered in another province.

When asked further, he explained that the allergic reaction started about two hours after eating. He had already taken two CPM 2mg tablets plus calamine lotion without improvement. Initial assessment showed widespread swollen red rashes, drowsiness, difficulty concentrating, and dizziness.

The officers suspected anaphylaxis rather than a simple allergic reaction and immediately called for emergency medical assistance.

When rescue personnel arrived, they measured oxygen saturation at 93-94%, blood pressure at 88-61, and heart rate at 145. After applying oxygen via cannula at 3 liters per minute and elevating his legs, oxygen improved to 97%, blood pressure rose to 145-88, and heart rate decreased to 110.

Meanwhile, an advanced life support unit was called. Upon arrival, they administered antihistamine medication and intravenous fluids, monitored vital signs, and improved oxygen levels to 98-99% before transferring him to hospital. The post credited quick thinking by the officers who asked detailed questions rather than allowing him to drive himself, and thanked the rescue team and Erawaan rescue center.

Mechanic Nearly Took Own Life in Five-Body Murder Case
5 Aug Khaosod

CHONBURI — A motorcycle mechanic who became a key witness in the investigation into the alleged five-body murder case involving suspect "Pong" said he nearly took his own life after facing intense pressure and public suspicion that he had helped the accused.

Speaking publicly for the first time on August 4, 2026, the 43-year-old mechanic, known as "Neng", said he was the person heard in an audio clip providing police with information about a motorcycle linked to two missing Russian siblings. Neng said he saw another suspect, Thong, dismantling a motorcycle near an old cemetery in Huai Yai, Bang Lamung district, on July 26, 2026. When Russian residents later posted missing-person notices featuring the siblings and their motorcycle, he recognised the vehicle immediately and contacted Huai Yai police.

He insisted he had acted in good faith and had cooperated fully with investigators from the beginning. Neng said Thong had worked for him making charcoal, while Pong had stayed at his property for nearly two months after being released from prison in June. He claimed Pong had appeared to behave normally and had helped with household chores, but later learned that Pong allegedly carried a handgun regularly and used the same weapon in the murders of the Russian siblings and a Thai family of three.

The mechanic said Pong and Thong had also stolen his red Honda Scoopy motorcycle, which was allegedly used during the crimes and later during their escape. Neng said the emotional toll had been overwhelming. He described himself as having "raised a cobra" by giving Pong shelter and said he had been unable to eat or sleep because of the investigation and rumours circulating in the community.

"I almost put a gun to my temple and ended my life," he said, adding that a phone call and the arrival of police officers at his house stopped him from pulling the trigger. He denied any involvement in the killings and said he wanted to clear his name, stressing that he was the one who provided police with crucial information that helped advance the investigation.

Neng also defended Huai Yai police, saying officers had worked tirelessly and successfully solved the case. He said Pong deserved the harshest possible punishment for the alleged murders. Authorities have not accused Neng of involvement in the killings, and the investigation remains ongoing.

GULF Sparks Smiles Brings Free Dental Care to Ayutthaya
5 Aug Khaosod

GULF Sparks Smiles, a community care initiative, has brought a mobile dental unit to Nakhon Luang District in Ayutthaya Province to provide free dental services directly to residents, with villagers enthusiastically taking advantage of the program. Despite having only two remaining natural teeth, 70-year-old Rossukhon Thongsakun has been diligent in caring for them, though she faced lifelong dental challenges stemming from overcrowding in her youth and a farming background that left her with little dental knowledge. Having worn dentures since before age 20 due to continuous tooth decay and extraction, Rossukhon explained how visiting dentists has always been difficult—hospital trips consume an entire day, while private clinic treatment costs 2,000–3,000 baht per visit, with a single denture repair costing hundreds of baht and fillings running 700–800 baht. "Income and dental costs are different, but it's necessary because if you don't do it, you can't eat," she said, reflecting a common burden many elderly face. When Rossukhon learned that GULF Sparks Smiles would operate its mobile dental unit in her community from July 7–9, 2025, she eagerly attended for checkups, scaling, and fillings, and even invited relatives to join her. Fellow retiree Sumet Prommeshed, who has been retired for five years and now uses a wheelchair after health complications, shared similar struggles with dental access—transportation is difficult, extraction costs hundreds of baht, and hospital queues are long due to high patient numbers in Ayutthaya Province. He was delighted when the mobile unit set up just 100 meters from his home, expressing gratitude that residents like him could receive free dental care without any cost. "This mobile unit opens doors for people who struggle to travel or wait for family to take them to hospitals, as well as those fearful of dental work or worried about expenses," noted dentist Phawawin Suwatchorapon from Bang Pla Hospital, explaining how the outreach program makes dental care far more accessible than requiring early hospital visits or long waits.

Rayong — Relatives, villagers, and nearly 100 rescue personnel from Pluak Daeng district are conducting a full-scale search for Bunyamee, 84, a thin woman approximately 150 centimeters tall who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. She disappeared from her home near the Dok Krai water reservoir in Mueang Noi, Tambon Mae Nam Khu, Pluak Daeng district, Rayong province on July 26. Ten days have now passed with no sign of her and her fate remains unknown.

Rescue teams and search parties have waded through dense eucalyptus forests with thick, high grass covering a wide area near the water reservoir.

Despite rescue officials and relatives conducting intensive foot searches lasting many hours over the past ten days, no clues have been found. Taxi Driver Found Dead on His Birthday at Car Wash

Police at Pak Kret station responded at 7:45 a.m. on August 5, 2569 (2026) to a report of a death inside a yellow Toyota taxi parked at a coin-operated car wash in Bang Pood subdistrict, Pak Kret district, Nonthaburi province. Officers arrived with a medical examiner from the Institute of Forensic Medicine to find the 65-year-old driver, identified as Mr. A, reclined in the driver's seat with signs of vomit on his shirt collar and feces in his pants. The car's engine was running and both side windows were rolled down.

Securiy camera footage revealed the victim had driven into the parking bay at 1:57 p.m. on August 4th and never exited the vehicle. The facility owner discovered the unusual situation on the morning of August 5th—noticing the car hadn't been washed despite being parked there overnight—and alerted staff, who confirmed the driver was unresponsive. Police investigation revealed that August 4th was not only the day the victim parked his car but also his birthday, suggesting he may have died on the same day he arrived.

Initial police assessment indicated the victim likely had an underlying medical condition. The facility owner recounted that at 7:35 a.m., while sweeping the grounds, he noticed the taxi was stationary with its engine running and completely dry, which prompted him to look inside and see the motionless driver. After consulting with other staff, they determined the driver had died and contacted police. The body has been referred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.

Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaiyachokchai Chidchob addressed the leak of government officials' personal information online at Government House on August 5, 2569 at 10:10 a.m., stating that the investigation has made significant progress. Initial findings indicate the incident is not a data hack but rather involves a single IP address from one location with two account login attempts, which exhibits suspicious behavior. The minister said he believes there is a strong possibility of political involvement based on the observed patterns, though investigators have not yet confirmed this. He asked the public to wait for the full investigation results and assured citizens that the affected system has been shut down, preventing any further data leaks through that channel. When asked if the leaked images were authentic, Chidchob confirmed they were old photos from his previous national ID card.

Officials Seize Over 12 Tons Of Smuggled Beef In Samut Sakhon
5 Aug Khaosod

The Agricultural and Food Security Center (AFSC) has partnered with the Department of Livestock to intercept more than 12.6 tonnes of frozen beef suspected of being smuggled into Thailand in Samut Sakhon province, announcing continued crackdowns on illegally imported livestock products.

Sarawut Nueangchamnongk, commander of the AFSC, revealed that integrated operations with the Department of Livestock's veterinary inspection and quarantine units successfully seized four suspicious trucks carrying frozen beef weighing over 12,600 kilograms in Samut Sakhon. The beef is suspected to have been smuggled from abroad. Officials arrested those responsible and proceeded with legal action, emphasizing their commitment to protecting Thai farmers and ensuring food safety for consumers.

Because the drivers could not produce documentation of origin or animal movement permits, officials confiscated all the animals and vehicles involved and referred the case for criminal investigation. The alleged violations fall under the Animal Epidemics Act B.E. 2558, specifically Article 22 (moving animals or animal remains into, out of, through, or within disease control zones without authorization) and Article 31 (importing, exporting, or transporting animals or animal remains without permission).

Sarawut stated that the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and Department of Livestock will enforce laws strictly and continuously to prevent illegal livestock smuggling, protect consumer food safety, and safeguard Thai farmers' interests. The public is encouraged to report suspicious activity through the DLD 4.0 mobile application, available 24 hours a day.
