PTT Confident Energy Crisis Can Be Overcome, H1 Results Strong
PTT reported first-half 2026 net profit of 78.3 billion baht, up 74% year-on-year, as the state energy firm secured supplies through global diversification and investment in refinery efficiency amid Middle East tensions.
PTT Chief Executive Dr. Kongkrapan Intaracheung briefed media on September 4 that PTT faces two key responsibilities: serving as a state enterprise securing the nation's energy and managing shareholder interests as a listed company. Amid prolonged Middle East instability, PTT has prioritized energy security, managed its supply chain, and prepared financial liquidity to absorb rising costs and volatility. The company has diversified crude oil sources globally, leveraging a worldwide business partner network for continuous supply, and invested in refinery advances to boost efficiency and flexibility in processing crude from multiple origins. PTT reinforced its vision of being strong together with Thai society and growing sustainably worldwide, with a mission to ensure energy security, drive growth while reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and balance stakeholder interests through sound strategy and efficient management. The company achieved first-half 2026 results exceeding expectations, with net profit of 78,263 million baht, up more than 33,000 million baht or 74 percent year-on-year. Key strategic results included accelerating competitiveness and energy security through expanded natural gas production and overseas investments. The LNG business is leveraging international trade and global networks to diversify energy supply, targeting 3.7 million tonnes by end-2026, 10 million tonnes by 2028, and 15 million tonnes by 2033. Natural gas will play a stabilizing role as the world and Thailand transition to cleaner energy. Thailand will host Gastech 2026 on September 14-17, bringing together government, private sector, and international organizations for policy dialogue. The petrochemical and refining business continues seeking global partnerships to strengthen its flagship operations while adapting to Middle East instability and government policy shifts. PTT is advancing sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives.
