Pure Heart Foundation Donates Wheelchair to Paralyzed Monk in Chiang Mai
The Pure Heart Foundation donated a wheelchair to a 38-year-old monk in Chiang Mai who has been paralyzed on his left side since a 2020 stroke. The gift, arranged via a Thai PBS program, will help him continue his religious duties and teaching at a temple school. The foundation emphasized that mobility aids also aid physical rehabilitation and social participation for people with disabilities.
The Pure Heart Foundation traveled to Chiang Mai province to present a wheelchair to a monk who suffered a stroke in 2020, leaving him with left-sided paralysis. The donation, coordinated through the Thai PBS program 'People's Station,' aims to improve his mobility and support his religious duties and teaching at a temple school.
On November 7, 2026, foundation chairperson Thianrat Nawamawat dispatched a team to deliver the wheelchair to Phra Nipon Manivanno, aged 38, at Wat Chetupon in Wat Ket subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Mai district. Phra Nipon suffered a cerebral hemorrhage in 2020, resulting in left-sided hemiplegia with weakness in his left arm and leg, making movement and walking difficult and necessitating a wheelchair. Despite his physical limitations, he remains dedicated to his monastic duties and continuously teaches at a temple-run school.
The chairperson stated that providing the wheelchair will not only facilitate his movement and daily life but also enable him to travel for religious activities and teach children and youth more conveniently. Importantly, physical movement and engagement in activities also help stimulate bodily functions and promote appropriate rehabilitation. The Pure Heart Foundation is committed to assisting vulnerable groups by addressing individual needs, ensuring that people with physical disabilities receive proper support and can continuously engage in activities beneficial to themselves and society.
