2 Aug Khaosod

Rangsit University's Digital Innovation Technology College has partnered with the Thai Investor Promotion Association to develop an AI-powered financial planning curriculum designed to train a new breed of investment professionals. According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chatchaneti Srisowan, the university's Vice President for Technology and Innovation, the new curriculum integrates a decade of experience in finance, investment, and information technology education with artificial intelligence and data analytics. The program prepares graduates to use AI as a tool for analyzing financial statements, personal investment planning, and processing complex data efficiently, while emphasizing that AI complements rather than replaces human financial advisors, who must retain ethical judgment and accountability.

Mongkol Leelatharm, president of the Thai Investor Promotion Association, announced a three-week training program launching August 1, 8, and 15, 2025, every Saturday. The initiative teaches retail investors and shareholder advocates to use AI for data research, financial analysis of 56-1 One Reports, company valuation using Reverse DCF techniques, and critical questioning of business assumptions. Participants will learn to present findings in two-page infographics. Leelatharm emphasized that empowering individual investors with AI-driven analytical skills will strengthen shareholder protection, increase market transparency, and support sustainable growth in Thailand's capital market.

Wat Tham Pla in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai province, experiences a remarkable annual transformation during the rainy season and Buddhist Lent, when moss and ferns entirely coat the historic pagoda in emerald green. This natural phenomenon occurs only during this brief seasonal window—once the rains end, the moss dries and the stupa returns to its original appearance, making it a true once-a-year spectacle that visitors cannot miss. The jade-colored tower, framed by the sound of rain and surrounded by lush greenery, has become a premier destination for photographers and nature enthusiasts, drawing visitors nationwide who are eager to experience this intersection of natural beauty and spiritual heritage before the opportunity vanishes until the following year.

Former MP Pushes Back on Party's Sexual Harassment Inquiry

Pheu Thai Party says it will investigate sexual harassment allegations in a former Bangkok MP's book, while the accuser claims the party already ignored her complaints and protected the accused.

Former MP Pushes Back on Party's Sexual Harassment Inquiry
2 Aug Khaosod

On August 2, 2025, Panida Mongkolswasdi, a Samut Prakan member of parliament and deputy spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party, posted on Facebook in response to calls from former MP Thanyawaj Kamolwongwattana—a former list-based MP from Future Forward and Move Forward—demanding that Pheu Thai publicly address allegations in a book by former Bangkok MP Tisana Choonhavan. The book contains allegations of sexual harassment and organizational mishandling that have gained significant traction on social media. Pheu Thai announced it is issuing a formal invitation to Choonhavan, a current party member, to provide information for further investigation. Panida stated that Pheu Thai takes all complaints of sexual harassment and violence seriously and has consistent standards for handling such matters fairly, transparently, and based on facts, using party mechanisms to investigate without protecting wrongdoers.

Choonhavan responded on Facebook with four key points: she says she has already discussed everything with party leadership; nothing was done; the accused is no longer in a certain position but has since been elected to parliament and held many important roles; and she questioned how compensation could ever be adequate for the damage to her dignity, adding that the party chose to deliberately undermine her honor while protecting the perpetrator. She concluded by saying "the time has passed" for further dialogue on the matter.

Landlord Turns Blind Eye to Tenant's Rule-Breaking
2 Aug Khaosod

A room rental owner shared how he had to pretend not to notice when a tenant violated house rules. Most condominiums and rental properties enforce a strict no-pet policy to prevent disturbances or property damage, yet many residents secretly break this rule. Facebook user Decpom Retro, who manages rental rooms, has a clear no-pets clause in his lease terms. However, when one tenant's bathroom broke down and Decpom Retro brought a repair worker, they discovered a serious rule violation. In his post, he explained: "The tenant was secretly keeping a kitten despite it being against house rules, but I let it slide and pretended not to see it when I checked the room and fixed the bathroom." Commenters unanimously agreed that such a cute sight would soften anyone's heart, even though rules should still be followed. On this occasion, the tenant was lucky to encounter a compassionate landlord willing to overlook the breach.

The director-general of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Theeraphatthanakachmatat, chaired a Situation Awareness Team (SAT) meeting on August 2 with representatives from disaster prevention offices in 17 northern provinces, regional emergency centers, and relief volunteers. He reported that August is forecast to receive above-normal rainfall, especially in western, northern, upper northeastern, and eastern regions, with rainfall expected to decline in September and October before heavy rain returns to the southern region in November. All provinces were instructed to monitor conditions closely and prepare response plans in advance.

Theeraphatthanakachmatat noted that Chiang Rai province has experienced flash floods and riverbank overflows in three districts, but the situation has stabilized through round-the-clock coordination. Phetchabun province deployed water pumps to manage floodwaters flowing into surrounding areas with advance Cell Broadcast warnings. Phichit province faced riverbank overflow from heavy rain, with local agencies mobilizing machinery, flat-bottomed boats, and pumps for rapid drainage. Chiang Mai, though monitoring accumulated rainfall, has maintained strict urban flood prevention measures and benefits from adequate reservoir capacity.

The director-general ordered all areas to position emergency machinery in high-risk zones proactively, coordinate with local government and volunteer organizations, clear drainage obstructions, and stock relief supplies. He emphasized the importance of multi-channel public communication through Cell Broadcast, social media, community radio, and local leaders to ensure timely awareness and alert dissemination.

The opening was presided over by Assistant Professor Dr. Niwat Kaewpradub, rector of the university, with welcoming remarks from Assistant Professor Dr. Theersakdi Jindabath, director of the International Affairs and Corporate Communication Center, alongside university executives, representatives from supporting public and private agencies, and a large crowd of participants at the Flag Pole Plaza on the Hat Yai campus on August 1, 2025.

The seventh PSU Bazaar on Ground "Love of PSU" ran from August 1–2, 2025, at the Flag Pole Plaza in front of the Rector's Office, promoting entrepreneurship among students, alumni, staff, and university affiliates by providing a marketplace to sell goods, generate income, exchange business knowledge, and build professional networks across all five university campuses. The event featured over 50 vendors selling savory and sweet foods and beverages, learning zones with garbage separation workshops from the Southern Thailand Love of Birthplace Foundation, educational activities from the university's traveling natural history museum, disaster preparedness games from the Foundation for Media Development of Children and Youth and the Health Promotion Foundation, and the WalkWing walking activity offering event discounts. Musical and dance performances by university student clubs, entertainment from visiting schools, prize giveaways, and the iconic outdoor cinema event rounded out the festival.

Rector Assistant Professor Dr. Niwat Kaewpradub stated that PSU Bazaar on Ground aligns with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation's policy to drive regional economic development and is part of the university's transformation initiatives. The online market "PSU Bazaar" has grown to over 86,000 members and has become highly successful in building a strong economic foundation. The event continues to be organized as a low-carbon event mindful of environmental impact, supporting the university's path toward carbon neutrality.

Assistant Professor Dr. Theersakdi Jindabath, director of the International Affairs and Corporate Communication Center, noted that the PSU Bazaar group was established during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide members with income through online sales channels. Following pandemic relief, the concept evolved into a small market format called PSU Bazaar on Ground, first held in 2021, and has continued to generate income and stimulate economic circulation. This year's event maintains that tradition of supporting entrepreneurship and community engagement.

Deputy Mayor Credits Monk for Lottery Luck, Wins 32 Tickets
2 Aug Khaosod

On August 2, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Wat Huay Sup in Na Ma Tum subdistrict, Phanat Nikhom district, Chachoengsao province, Nithirut Triwornsukmitr, deputy mayor of Nong Hiang subdistrict administration, along with his wife presented 50,000 firecrackers, a classical dance performance, and 100,000 baht in cash as an offering to Luang Por Yai (the revered abbot) inside the temple's prayer hall amid crowds of worshippers.

Nithirut displayed 32 winning government lottery tickets with the final two digits 69 to reporters. He also showed 10 tickets with number 971479 that narrowly missed the first prize by just two digits—a near-miss that would have been worth over 60 million baht. Despite the narrow loss, he received multiple prizes for the two-digit match.

Nithirut explained that he regularly visits the temple to make merit and request blessings for good fortune from Luang Por Yai. Before the latest lottery drawing, the abbot had given him the number 69, which he then purchased in three additional sets of 10 tickets each for a total of 32. All 32 tickets won the two-digit prize as intended. He also purchased 10 tickets with number 971479, which came within two digits of the first-prize jackpot.

Prior to the lottery, Nithirut had brought a land deed to Luang Por Yai for a blessing before selling it. After successfully selling the property, he made the donation as an act of gratitude and continued merit-making. Following the merit ceremony, other lottery players in attendance examined the winning ticket numbers 35-898 to use as guidance for future lottery purchases, all within an atmosphere of faith and devotion.
