Rayong Governor Orders Crackdown on Industrial Waste Dumping
Rayong's governor has ordered a sweeping crackdown on illegal industrial waste dumping, directing inspections of all recycling facilities and stricter enforcement against violators across the province.
Rayong Governor Traiphop Vongtrairat announced a comprehensive crackdown on industrial waste pollution following environmental damage from factories across the province. He has ordered the Provincial Industrial Office and related agencies to conduct detailed inspections of all recycling facilities, covering waste type, volume, origin, storage locations, and transport routes, with strict deadlines for removing and disposing of accumulated waste according to law. Operators must maintain complete records of waste intake, storage, transport, and disposal at licensed facilities to prevent illegal dumping and non-compliant waste management. The governor has also directed the Provincial Industrial Office to coordinate with environmental agencies, local government bodies, and law enforcement to closely monitor all waste movement steps and report progress regularly until removal is complete. Following the governor's orders, officials from Ban Chang district conducted an inspection into complaints of waste and machinery being dumped in Moo 3, Ban Chang subdistrict. They found the property owner had allowed someone to dump waste for land fill purposes. Industrial officials summoned both the person who dumped the waste and the landowner for investigation, and the subdistrict mayor notified the property owner of violations under the Public Health Act, with penalties to follow. This action reflects the governor's directive to enforce laws strictly against operators and responsible parties who violate licensing conditions or environmental and factory regulations, prioritizing public safety, health, and quality of life.
