Pollution Control Officers Inspect Data Center Construction Waste Dumping

The Pollution Control Division has launched an investigation into construction waste from a data center factory that was dumped in Rayong province, raising environmental and health concerns among local residents. Most recently, at a meeting on the third floor of the Ban Chang subdistrict municipality building, Deputy Police General Itthiphon Potthong, advisor to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, along with the Pollution Control Division and Rayong province industrial officials, coordinated their response. Deputy Police General Itthiphon reported that Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchati Chomklin received complaints from residents about waste dumping in the area, which caused skin irritation. During the inspection, very little fiberglass waste was found. Subsequently, Ban Chang subdistrict municipality issued a fine of 2,000 baht under the Waste Management Act and filed charges at Ban Chang Police Station for unauthorized waste disposal. Officials will now monitor contractors at the source to prevent further dumping and ensure waste is disposed of legally to restore public confidence. Although reports suggested tens of thousands of tons were dumped, the actual area affected was found to be approximately 4 rai. Authorities will continue tracking where additional waste may have been disposed to enforce the law and reassure residents.
