At the invitation of To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, this royal visit holds special significance as it marks 50 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Vietnam and represents the first official visit by a Thai monarch to Vietnam in history. It thus constitutes another important milestone that will help strengthen and deepen relations between the two countries. The itinerary reflects the importance of royal friendship comprehensively, including wreath-laying ceremonies at the memorial to war heroes and fallen soldiers and at the tomb of former President Ho Chi Minh. The royal visit includes formal state reception, high-level meetings and discussions with Vietnamese leaders, and audiences granted to prominent Vietnamese figures. Cultural and religious activities are also featured, including attendance at cultural performances at Ngoc Son Temple and a visit to Quan Su Pagoda, which houses the headquarters of Vietnam's Central Buddhist Council, as well as observation of the Thai Language and Culture Center at Hanoi University.
