PM Backs Bangkok's Transparency Order for All State Agencies
Prime Minister Anutin backs Bangkok's new transparency directive requiring state agencies to disclose public information by default, warning that officials refusing to share data face legal consequences.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul commented on the Bangkok governor's order requiring all city agencies to disclose public information under the "open by default, closed by exception" principle. He stated that existing laws on state information already exist, and he urges all agencies not to seek exceptions or loopholes. If government operates with genuine transparency and honest intent, there is no need to conceal anything, he said. Anutin noted that he personally discloses all information without restriction and provides whatever data is requested. When asked whether this principle would be applied across the government, he replied that it is already in effect. Anyone refusing to disclose information risks legal action, which is their responsibility, he added, noting that the government cannot force compliance but agency leaders must understand the law properly.
