Somsak Summoned by DSI in Foreign Nominee Property Case

Justice Minister Rutthapol Naovaratana said on September 29, 2025, at Government House that Somsak Techthawatchareun, a Phucket MP from the People's Party, has given a statement to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) as a witness in a case involving shareholding in a private company that holds real estate and condominium units in Phucket jointly with a foreigner. The DSI informed the minister that Somsak appeared for preliminary questioning and submitted some documents, with the investigation taking an appropriate amount of time. The DSI will now compile evidence and provide further assessment. When asked when charges might be filed in the Phucket nominee case, Rutthapol said investigators have already gathered substantial evidence. Regarding the possibility of changing Somsak's status from witness to suspect, the minister said this depends on analyzing all evidence and determining what counterevidence Somsak can provide. Investigators will analyze the evidence to decide on next steps. In a separate matter involving People's Party list-based MP Pawut Pongwitthayphanu and a forex case already forwarded to prosecutors, Rutthapol said it is now under prosecutorial review, pending the prosecutor's decision.
