Flood Relief Kitchen Set Up to Aid Khlong Chan Residents
The Thai Red Cross Volunteer Foundation opened a relief kitchen at Wat Bangtey to deliver meals and supplies to flood-affected residents in Bangkok's Khlong Chan apartment complex, working with community leaders to ensure fair distribution
Verasak Kovsuratana, secretary of the Thai Red Cross Volunteer Foundation, announced that the foundation is actively assisting residents affected by flooding in the Khlong Chan apartment community in Bangkok's Bangkapi district. The relief effort involves deploying teams to deliver rice, dry food, and essential supplies to affected apartments, prioritizing access to those in harder-to-reach units to ensure no one is left behind due to access limitations. All donated supplies are collected at central kitchen and storage facilities within the complex, where community leaders distribute them fairly to residents, ensuring efficient allocation and access for all households during the crisis.
Kovsuratana also announced the establishment of a royal relief kitchen at Wat Bangtey to prepare and send meals to the Khlong Chan apartments, a collaboration involving the royal kitchen team, the National Housing Authority, and volunteer unit 904, which began operations on September 28. He noted that residents were deeply moved upon learning the assistance came from the Thai Red Cross Volunteer Foundation, with all expressing "Long live the King" in gratitude for the continued support during their hardship. Kovsuratana stated that the residents' response energized the foundation's workers, reinforcing their commitment to deliver not just food and necessities, but hope and assurance that citizens will not be abandoned in times of crisis.
