Son Assaults Father With Rock Over Drug Money Denial
A 36-year-old man in Buriram province attacked his 60-year-old father with a six-kilogram rock after being denied 60 baht for drug money, severely injuring the village safety officer.
On September 6, 2569, residents of Ban Pluem Pattana village in Kok Ma Muang subdistrict, Pakham district, Buriram province were shocked by an assault. Pornpol, 36, allegedly used a rock weighing over six kilograms to attack his father Pai, 60, a village safety officer, causing severe injuries. The incident occurred on September 5 when Pai refused to give his son 60 baht. Pai was initially treated at Pakham Hospital before being transferred to Buriram Central Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
During questioning, Pornpol confessed that he had asked his father for 60 baht to refuel his motorcycle sidecar, intending to use the remainder to buy methamphetamine. When his father refused and removed the motorcycle's spark plug, an argument erupted. As Pai turned away, Pornpol threw the rock at his head with force, causing him to fall and convulse. He then struck him again with the same rock, claiming he feared his father would retaliate, and kicked his unconscious father multiple times.
Pornpol admitted to a heavy methamphetamine habit, once consuming 40-50 pills daily, though he has since reduced intake to one pill daily due to unemployment. A neighbor, 69, revealed that Pornpol has a history of drug involvement and theft in the village, but expressed shock that he would assault his own father over denied drug money.
Police collected evidence and detained Pornpol, charging him with assault and illegal possession of Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine). Further legal proceedings are pending.
