Stray Dog Uncovers 20,000 Meth Pills in Sukhothai
A stray dog in Sukhothai Province inadvertently foiled a drug drop when it carried off a bag containing 20,000 methamphetamine pills marked with the "999" cartel stamp. Villagers alerted authorities after spotting the dog with the suspicious package, leading to the seizure. Police are now investigating CCTV footage to track down the traffickers who left the stash for local dealers to collect.
A drug gang's plan backfired when they left a stash of methamphetamine pills by a roadside in Ban Tueng Subdistrict, Si Satchanalai District, Sukhothai Province, only for a stray dog to snatch the bag first. At 8:00 a.m. on November 5, 2026, villagers noticed a dog carrying a mysterious black bag along the Doi Kha Muang–Thung Phlo–Ban Plai Na road. Suspecting the contents were unusual, they alerted the village headman and Kamnan Wichian Niratot of Pa Ngio Subdistrict, who inspected the scene and coordinated with Si Satchanalai Police Station and district officials. Officers found a plastic bundle wrapped tightly in brown tape, torn from the dog's bites, bearing the "999" stamp — a known symbol of a drug trafficking network. Inside were two packages containing approximately 20,000 methamphetamine pills, which were seized as evidence. Police believe traffickers had dropped the drugs at night for local dealers to collect, but the dog intervened first. Investigators are now reviewing CCTV footage along the route to identify the vehicle and suspects involved.
