Strong Winds Batter Pattaya, Red Flag Raised, Six Boats Grounded
Heavy winds and high seas forced authorities to raise a red flag and ground all tour boats in Pattaya on September 25, with six vessels damaged and rough conditions expected to persist for several days.
On September 25, heavy rain and fierce wind gusts struck Pattaya, Chon Buri from the middle of the night through the morning, creating dangerous high seas and poor conditions for navigation. Authorities raised a red flag and imposed a complete ban on all tour boats—both large and small—from leaving shore. Strong winds and continuous waves battered Pattaya's beaches, forcing many beach lounger operators to close temporarily as numerous tour boats sought shelter in the bay and around Bali Hai headland.
Preliminary reports found six vessels affected by the strong winds and damaged: one large tour boat and five speedboats. Additionally, two large parasail tow boats used for tourist parasailing activities were blown onto the beach. The Regional Port Authority's Pattaya office has instructed all boat operators and tour services to heighten caution, monitor weather closely, and refrain from departing while seas remain rough, to prevent accidents and injuries to tourists and operators.
Pattaya is expected to face continued strong winds and rough seas for the next 3–4 days. Boat operators and tourists are urged to monitor official announcements closely before embarking on any sea journeys.
