Suntron Chareonmont Re-elected Thai Billiards Chief for Third Term
Suntron Chareonmont has been unanimously re‑elected as president of the Thai Billiards Association for a third term. He promised to work harder, launch a new Pool Ranking tournament despite the group’s negative budget, and prepare athletes for the 2026 Asian Indoor Games in Saudi Arabia and the 2027 SEA Games in Malaysia.
The Thai Billiards Association unanimously re-elected Suntron Chareonmont, nicknamed 'Big Hong', as president for a third consecutive term. He vowed to work harder and sacrifice more to develop the sport, announcing plans for a special 'Pool Ranking' tournament to broaden the fan base nationwide despite the association’s ongoing budget deficit. He also laid out a roadmap to intensify athlete training next week for the 2026 Asian Indoor Games in Saudi Arabia and the 2027 SEA Games in Malaysia.
The extraordinary meeting took place on Wednesday, October 7 at the Hokitchen restaurant on Rama 3, with the association’s executive committee and representatives from 26 member clubs in attendance. Police Lieutenant General Disat Burapachoti was appointed to chair the election; after clubs nominated candidates, only Suntron’s name was put forward, and all 26 clubs voted unanimously to retain him for another four‑year term (2026‑2030).
Suntron thanked the clubs for their trust and said that next year’s schedule will include continuous competitions from January to October, covering six‑red snooker, men’s and women’s snooker, junior snooker, national pool and billiards championships. He added that if sponsors can be secured, the association will introduce a Pool Ranking series of three to four events to record national points, although the current budget remains negative.
He pledged to devote himself even more than before to grow and elevate the sport so that fans can enjoy it fully. Suntron also noted that training for the Asian Indoor Games will begin next week after delays caused by flooding and the Asian Games in Japan, and preparation for the 2027 SEA Games in Malaysia will follow in September.
